JIMMU -Hajimari no Monogatari-

 (The Story of Beginning)

[Original story commemorating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the town of Tsuno.]

In Tsuno Town, Koyu County, Miyazaki Prefecture, there is a myth that Iwalehiko (later Emperor Jimmu) set out to create a new nation.

Based on this myth, we have created an original story called "JIMMU-Jimmu: The Story of Beginning" to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the town of Tsuno.

This stage overlaps the story of Iwarehiko's eastward migration with our thoughts for the next 100 years of the town of Tsuno. We hope that the message of our ancestors' wish for peace will reach the souls of modern people living today, more than 2,600 years later.

There were fears that this play might be cancelled due to the spread of the new coronavirus. Nevertheless, we continued rehearsals, and after a year's postponement, we finally managed to stage the play, with the townspeople who supported the project, the general public, and professional actors working together as one.

We are pleased to distribute this work here as a token of our gratitude and appreciation.

Synopsis

Iwarehiko (later Emperor Jimmu) is said to have been born in Miyazaki Prefecture. When he reached his prime of his life, he decided to move east in order to create a country of great harmony.

The first Emperor Jimmu and his party risked their lives to establish the nation, and along the way, they faced many severe battles, separation from their compatriots and families, death, and other difficulties far beyond what they could have imagined.

The young Emperor Jimmu, though sometimes conflicted, paved the road less traveled with the help of people and gods, and in the course of his long journey, he cultivated an unwavering founding spirit.

The first emperor, Jimmu, vowed,

“Let us all become one big family and build a peaceful nation.”

The story of the beginning of Japan, the oldest country in the world, gives us, the people of today's Japan, the mission for which we were born.

“With our hands, peace will surely be realized!”
